À PROPOS DE LA RADIO
Radio Indígena 94.1 FM KIND-LP is a testament to the power of community, born from a simple suggestion in 2013 by Hugo Morales, director of Radio Bilingüe. With overwhelming support from Indigenous community members, the project earned its FCC Low Power FM permit in 2014 and never looked back.
From the very beginning, the station was built by the people it serves. Over 200 Indigenous migrants — many of them strawberry farmworkers — helped bring it to life. More than 40 community leaders completed DJ training, and the Indigenous Radio Advisory Board raised over $40,000 through lively, family-friendly dance parties drawing 500 guests each. Radio Indígena launched en ligne streaming in 2015 and hit the FM airwaves in 2017.

Radio Indígena honors that need by delivering programming in Spanish and in indigenous languages, including seven variants of Mixteco, Zapoteco, and Purépecha. No other station offers that.
Today, Radio Indígena hosts 17 hours of weekly live programming across 13 shows covering community organizing, healthcare, mental health, wellbeing, and Indigenous music. A newly launched Indigenous journalism program further deepens its impact.
