ABOUT THIS STATION
Calm Radio’s NEW Oboe channel features oboe Sonatas, Oboe Symphonies, Oboe Concertos, Oboe Solos…from composers such as Vivaldi, Albonini, Bach, Mozart, Telemann, Bellini, Handel and more. Performed by some of the most world renown Oboists and orchestras.
The oboe first appeared in the mid-17th century, when it was called a hautbois. The oboe is a reed instrument that has a significant effect on the sound. Variations in cane and other construction materials, the age of the reed, and differences in scrape and length all affect the pitch.
